About Computer Tips and Tools

Hello and Welcome to My About Page!

Computer Tips and Tools was created primarily for the beginner to intermediate computer user. If you are a high octane computer geek or software engineer you may not be happy here.

Welcome Beginner Computer Users

I spend my time and energy producing simple videos for average computer users who don't know much about computers. I delve into the occasional advanced computer technique to either prod a beginner out of her comfort zone or to keep the more advanced user happy.

This site has two basic categories: "Tips" and "Tools".

At times these categories blend and moosh together. You'll understand what I mean when I try to explain them.

Tips:
Tips are the things I suggest you do to your computer or your website. (If you have a website.) Things like, quick and easy ways to defragment or back up your hard drive are tips.

Tools:
Tools are the software programs or hardware that I use and/or recommend to accomplish what I suggest in my computer tips.

Using the examples I've given, if I show you How to Defragment Your Windows XP Hard Drive (tip) I have to use a software program (tool) to do it. If I give you tips on "Computer Backup: It's Fun and Easy!" I use a software program (tool) and an external harddrive (tool) to do that too.

Get the picture?

Pro Video CamHow do I present my information?

I use videos to get my point across. I don't spend much time writing out explanations on how to do something. I believe most computer related learning is better done by watching how something is done rather than by reading how it's done.

How long are my videos?

Computer Tips and Tools ClockI try to keep my videos on the short side, under ten minutes in most cases. I also cut out unncessary wordiness and quickly get to the point. I hate watching twenty minute videos that should have been done in ten minutes.

The fundamental premise of Computer Tips and Tools is "Computer Knowledge at the Speed of Sight!"

I figure that if you don't follow how I do something in the video you can just rewind it a little and watch that part over again.

This is a Blog not a static dead website sort of place.

Megaphone for sounding off at Computer Tips and ToolsLastly, I want you to understand that this is a blog. A blog is designed for interactivity. I encourage you to make comments about the videos, whether positive or negative so that I can improve them.

I also want you to use my "Contact Mark" page and make suggestions for videos that you would like to see me make.

I aim to make this site a helpful resource for you and your friends and I will be able to do it faster with your help.
